Experience
I am a Spanish tutor in Washington, D.C. After graduating from Cornell University in 2004, I moved to Spain. I spent three years working at a nonprofit organization in Madrid before pursuing a masters degree in international relations from Universidad Pontificia Comillas, where all of the classes were taught in Spanish. Living and working in Spain for more than five years allowed me to become fluent in Spanish. I have worked for several companies translating Spanish to English, and now tutor students in Spanish.I started to study Spanish in eighth grade, and can appreciate the difficulties that accompany learning another language. The fact that I have also studied and struggled with similar concepts as my students helps me to be effective as a Spanish tutor. My experience allows me to explain Spanish concepts in ways that my students can understand. I love it when students start to understand the Spanish language, perhaps in ways that they may not have even expected.Spanish is a breathing, living language. It is not only a required school subject to pass. As Spanish is the second most spoken language in the world, being able to understand Spanish is going to become increasingly important in the future. In addition to teaching, I like to play guitar, read, play video games, skateboard, and snowboard.
